Sell the tools sitting idle in your truck

Cordless kits, batteries, specialty tools, and the parts that fit them sell on the Tool Exchange and the Parts Exchange. They ship. Payment is held until delivery.

How a tool sells here

You list it, set a shipping price, and ship the box after it sells. The buyer pays through the site. BuildTrader holds the payment until the carrier shows delivery. The fee when it sells is 10% of the order total (the item plus the shipping you set) plus 50¢. That is everything: no listing fee, and no separate card-processing charge on top.

There is no local-pickup checkout for tools. Materials are the local lane: the buyer comes to you, you settle up between yourselves, and BuildTrader does not take a cut of that sale. A drill belongs on the Tool Exchange. A mower deck, a carburetor, or a pump rebuild belongs on the Parts Exchange. Both use the same fee.

Publishing needs payout details on file. Stripe collects those on a secure page, before the listing can go up. That setup is not a listing fee.

What sells

Cordless kits, bare tools, batteries, chargers, specialty tools, attachments, and parts. Say the brand and the model. A buyer searching for that exact tool should be able to tell it is the one.

How to price a used tool

Price from condition, whether the batteries still hold a charge, and which accessories are included. Shipped listings have to be at least $10. Nothing on this page is a percentage of retail.

Photos, then a draft from the photos

Photograph the tool, the serial plate, the batteries and any charge or hour reading, and every piece that comes with it. The form can draft a title and details from those photos. You confirm them before the listing goes up. The original carton is optional.

Your name on the listing

The listing shows your name, not a blank post. A buyer can see who they are dealing with and what else you have up. That is the point of selling here instead of dropping a tool into an anonymous feed.

Common questions

Do I need the original box?

No. Photos of the tool, the serial plate, the batteries, and every included piece matter more than the carton.

How does shipping work?

You set a flat shipping price on the listing. Zero is allowed if you want to cover it. After the sale, ship the package and upload tracking within 72 hours or the order refunds. There are no returns, so the photos and the description are the inspection.

When do I get paid?

BuildTrader holds the payment until the carrier shows delivery, then releases it 72 hours later if there is no open claim. The fee, 10% of the order total (the item plus the shipping you set) plus 50¢, comes out of the payout.
